Finally Finished!
“Blueberry Sauce Waffles” reduction linocut.
I really like to do reduction screenprints, but haven't done many reduction linocuts.
This print had lots of problems. I printed it by hand with a baren, and the paper I chose was too thick. The biggest problem was my ink. I used a water miscilble oil-based ink.
I don’t like acrylic inks for block printing, because they dry while I'm still working. This ink dried really, really slowly.
All the early layers were too thick, and I kept printing on top of sticky layers which made the print never want to dry. I started this last Fall, finished printing it over a month ago, but left it on the rack forever to dry, and it's still slightly tacky. Next time I do this process I will make sure to keep my ink looser and let the layers dry before moving on. It’s a much slower process than reduction screenprint. Doing reduction screenprint, I can sometimes do two layers in one day because I print with a mixture of Golden Silkscreen Medium and Liquitex Basics Acrylics.
